At least 35 people have died in a New Year Eve stampede and
42 injured in Shanghai , Chinese state media reports. The stampede happened
during New Year's celebration on the Bund, a waterfront area in central
Shanghai. It was said that masses of crowds in Chen Yi Square on the Bund led
to the stampede.
According to officials the stampede began at 11:35pm (local
time), but not certain what triggered it. The wounded are currently
being treated at Shanghai General Hospital, while other relatives look for
their lost ones who might just be among those who lost their lives. How sad. Another photo below.
