Fashola, others bag police award on security

The Police Community Relations Committee in the Lagos State Police Command has given an award of recognition to the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babatunde Fashola and his Special Adviser on Education, Mr. Fatai Olukoga, among others over their efforts in ensuring the security and peaceful co-existence in the state.

At the award ceremony which held in Lagos recently, the Chairman of the PCRC in Lagos State, Oba Afolabi Asafa, who is also the Aladi onijanikin of Ijanikin kingdom, said the efforts of the recipients were worthy of the recognition as their support to the PCRC could not be quantified, according to a statement made available to Saturday PUNCH on Friday.

In his reaction, Olukoga, an aspirant to the House of Representatives in the 2015 election, said supporting the Nigeria Police in enhancing optimum security was part of his civic responsibilities.

He said, “My objective is to support the Force and other associated institutions to deliver more effective policing that will improve responsiveness, accountability and better service delivery because security is a crucial factor in national development.

“True, there are hardworking and committed officers in the Force, however, communities also need to support the Force morally by donating security gadgets and supplying useful information for the overall good and safety of the land.”
