La Liga Team of the Week: Ronaldo, Benzema & James all shine as Madrid go top

Real thrashed Granada 4-0 to lead the standings and Celta Vigo stunned Barcelona with a 1-0 victory at Camp Nou. Those two teams dominate this selection with four players apiece

Real Madrid moved to the top of La Liga on Saturday after they beat Granada 4-0 and Barcelona surprisingly lost 1-0 at home to Celta Vigo.

The Catalans are down in fourth place following that defeat, with Valencia in second, champions Atletico in third and Sevilla level on points with Luis Enrique's side in fifth.

There were also wins for Getafe, Athletic Bilbao, Levante, Elche and Eibar in the 10th round of matches in the Primera Division and, here, Goal picks the standout players from the latest round of action in Spain.

Between the sticks, Celta's Sergio Alvarez produced two world-class saves at Camp Nou and a number of other excellent stops to deny a dominant Barcelona side and help his team to all three points.

At the back, his team-mate Sergi Gomez was outstanding on his return to Barcelona, Xabier Etxeita was superb as Athletic beat Sevilla 1-0 at San Mames and Sergio Ramos helped Madrid to a clean sheet with a solid showing in their 4-0 win over Granada.

In midfield, James Rodriguez is included following his two goals - one of them a wonderful volley - at Granada. For Atletico, Antoine Griezmann produced his best performance yet with two goals for Diego Simeone's side and Koke was also instrumental in the champions' 4-2 win over Cordoba, while Fabian Orellana was superb for Celta in their victory at Camp Nou.

Further forward, Nolito was outstanding for the Galicians and set up the winning goal with an intelligent back-heel. Meanwhile, Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema both assisted two and scored another as Madrid made light work of a potentially tough trip to Granada.
