Princess Diana's stepmother; Raine Spencer, dies at age 87, following a short illness.

Raine Spencer, the stepmother of Diana, Princess of Wales, has died Friday, aged 87 after a short illness. Countess Spencer died on Friday morning at her London home, her son William Legge, the Earl of Dartmouth and a Ukip MEP, confirmed to press men.
In a short statement the family said: 'Raine, Countess Spencer, died peacefully at her home in London on 21st October, 2016, after a short illness.'

Bride Stabs Groom To Death Two Months To Wedding

A woman, Omolara Oluwagbemi, has killed her would be husband two months to their wedding in Ijebu-Ode town of Ogun State.

The Ogun State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, who confirmed the incident toPremium Times on Friday said the suspect has been arrested.

“The men of Ogun State Police Command have arrested one Omolara Oluwagbemi Abosede for killing her husband, one Sodiq Dauda,” Mr. Oyeyemi said.

Siasia In Qatar For Top Coaching Job

Former Nigeria coach Samson Siasia is now in oil-rich Qatar in connection with a lucrative top coaching job. “Siasia flew out to Qatar Friday (last week) afternoon. He is there to discuss a coaching post,” a top source informed.

Over time, Siasia has been variously linked with overseas coaching posts. The former Super Eagles coach led Nigeria to win bronze at the Rio Olympics in August. His contract as Nigeria Olympic team coach ended with that tournament.

Nigeria To Ban University Diploma Courses?

Nigeria’s National Universities Commission (NUC) has abolished all diploma - sub-degree level - programmes at the country’s universities.

The NUC says it wants universities to concentrate on providing quality education to train people to run the country’s public service.

Its head Abubakar Adamu Rasheed told university vice-chancellors that it was the job of polytechnics to run diploma courses.

26-year-old Cynthia is one of the thousands of modern slavery victims whose suffering has been highlighted in a report published by the University of Hull and YouGov on Tuesday, October 18th, about the lack of awareness of the scale or nature of modern slavery in the UK.


In December 2013, a year after she escaped, Cynthia, then 23, reported the abuse and exploitation to the police. Her case is currently in its final stages. And three years later, precisely last week, she won her asylum case and is now working for a charity alongside her Accountancy studies.

One of Lionel Messi's fans has gone to extreme lengths to show his admiration for the Barcelona player. He got a tattoo of the player poised in his signature celebration, on his back. He was then lucky to meet his idol and Messi was happy to oblige, offering his signature to be permanently added to the back tattoo of his image. 16-year-old commits suicide after being raped as punishment

A 16-year-old girl in India was found hanging on Christmas day after apparently taking her life. She had been kidnapped and gang-raped as punishment for her mother winning a local election. She went to the police with her mother to report the matter but she wasn't taken seriously. Feeling humiliated and traumatized, she took her own life. It was only after her death that police swung into action and arrested two suspects.

20 ways candidates cheat during exams

On January 4, 2014, 15 persons returned certificates issued to them by the West African Examination Council. During their individual exams, which spanned from 1983 to 2010, the 15 persons confessed that they were involved in various forms of exam malpractices, including impersonation. But now, as ‘born-again’ Christians, they said they could not live with the ‘sin’ anymore.
Similarly, on February 24, 2015, WAEC published a list of 178 candidates, who returned their certificates on the basis of being ‘born-again’ and seeking restitution. They reportedly confessed to hiring people to sit exams for them.

However, these candidates are rare examples. Cheating during examinations is quite common in Nigeria’s educational system.
This is despite the fact that the Examination Malpractices Act No. 33 of the 1999 Constitution stipulates a minimum punishment of N50,000 and a maximum of five years imprisonment without the option of fine for violators of the offences stipulated in the Act. Some of the offences listed include cheating during examination, stealing question papers, impersonation, disturbances at examination, obstruction of supervision, forgery of result slip, breach of duty, conspiracy and aiding.
The law has not deterred some candidates from engaging in these tricks. Here are 20 ways students cheat during exams:

All four Nigerians that contested for seats in UK parliament win

Four Nigerians who contested for various seats to represent different county in UK's parliament won their elections. Helen Grant won the seat for Member of Parliament representing Maidstone and The Weald while Chuka Umunna won the elections to represent Streatham. Kate Osamor won the seat for Edmonton in North London while Chi Onwurah won the seat for New Castle upon Tyne Central. Congrats to them.
