A 16-year-old girl in India was found hanging on Christmas day after
apparently taking her life. She had been kidnapped and gang-raped as
punishment for her mother winning a local election. She went to the
police with her mother to report the matter but she wasn't taken
seriously. Feeling humiliated and traumatized, she took her own life. It
was only after her death that police swung into action and arrested two
suspects.
